Brewing Instructions: For a fine brew, steep 1 Toucha with boiling spring water in a cup or pot for 5 minutes. Makes five infusions. Pu-Erh tea quality will not fade over time, but store tea away from dampness and peculiar smells.

History & Info:Pu-Erh is a unique tea that has been consumed and produced in Puer township, in the Yunnan province of China since 1066 BC, during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Unlike other varieties of tea with smaller leaves, Pu-Erh tea is made from broad leaf tea trees. Some of them are over 2,000 years old. Once picked, the leaves are fermented and oxidized using special production practices that have been handed down for generations in the tea factories. The leaves are then left loose or compressed together in different large and small shapes resembling bricks, cones, and bird nests. These shapes are known as Touchas.

When brewed, the tea is brownish red and has a bold earthy taste. Traditionally in China, the properties of Pu-Erh have long been known to warm the middle burner (spleen and stomach), aiding digestion, and elimination of fat, particularly after heavy and greasy meals without decreasing energy. Studies have shown that drinking Pu-Erh regularly helps support healthy cholesterol and uric acid levels, weight management, and heart function. With its blood cleaning and thirst quenching properties, Pu-Erh is also regarded as a great hangover tea in addition to its many health benefits that make it a powerful longevity tonic.
