Brewing Instructions: For a fine brew, steep 1 teaspoon per 6 ounces of spring water between 180F (82C) and 195F (90C) degrees for 1-2 minutes. Makes five infusions. For the fifth and sixth cup, brewing will take 3-4 minutes.

History & Info: According to Chinese legend, green tea was discovered in 2737 BC by Taoist Emperor Shen Nong, who was known as the “Divine Healer” and the founder of Chinese Medicine. When boiling water for a bath, he noticed some leaves from a nearby tree fall into the water. The aroma from the infusion was pleasant, and after sipping the water he proclaimed “Heaven Sent”. Since Shen Nong’s discovery almost 5,000 years ago, tea has become the second most consumed beverage in the world, right behind water. China alone produces over 12,500 varieties of green tea.

In China there is a saying: “It is better to drink green tea than to take medicine”. Modern science has shown that quality green tea has many nutrients such as Polyphenols, Polysaccharides, Flavonoids, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, R-Amino Butyric Acid, and Fluoride in its natural state. This tea is grown at 1,450 meters (4,350 feet) above sea level in the Ancient Tea Tree Mountains of Jing Mai and Mang Jing in Lang Cang County, China, where most of the trees are between 800 and 1200 years old. Studies have shown a higher content of Polyphenols than in regular bush tea as a result of the purity and fertility of the soil in these mountains.
