History & Info: Sencha is the most widely consumed tea in Japan. The name Sencha, which means “common tea”, fits the tea’s popularity. TONIC’s Sencha comes from the Uji region of Kyoto, Japan, the birthplace of Japanese Green Tea.
The finest teas of Japan come from the tea trees of Uji where the soil is pure, the air clean, and the water pristine. Tea Masters have produced tea from Uji for a thousand years. Sencha leaves, having been grown in full sun, are plucked fresh, and then lightly steamed. This allows the tea to retain many of its phytonutrient properties that are beneficial to us. The antioxidants found in green tea have been shown to support healthy blood pressure, lean body mass, hair follicles, colon, and prostate health, as well as brain and cardiovascular functions. The smooth taste of Sencha is mildly bitter with a hint of sweetness, and pairs superbly with seafood and chocolate.
Enjoy a cup of health!
